Heywood Lodge, Tenby, Front of Hotel

A warm welcome from Marion Stone
- Proprietor

"Hearty food, comfortable rooms, an ebullient hostess"
Holiday Which? Jan 94

Uppermost in the mind of the Victorian gentleman who originally built Heywood Lodge back in 1844 was the intention to provide himself with a residence that matched his elegant lifestyle and means, and befitted his substantial status in the area.

To this end he spared little expense and left behind a residence of great elegance, charm and character with well proportioned rooms containing features that speak volumes of the high degree of artistry and craftsmanship of his day.

Today, with a large measure of care and sympathy, Marion Stone has decorated and refurbished Heywood Lodge in a manner that tastefully conserves and highlights these beautiful features.

At the same time she has installed all the usual comforts and trappings of today's modern lifestyle... en-suite bathrooms with spa baths (for 2 persons) and king size beds in each bedroom together with tea and coffee making facilities, colour TV, telephone and hair dryers. Some rooms have four poster beds and relaxing jacuzzi baths.

Every meal, however lavish or simple, is prepared and served with creative flair and attention to detail.

Everything is so beautifully fresh and cooked to mouth watering perfection.

The elegant dining room caters for all tastes in a convivial, comfortable atmosphere.

Delicious, varied menus from a Chef who rejects the tin opener and the frozen food pack!

Heywood Lodge, Tenby, Bar

The result of her efforts is a welcoming country house hotel with a refreshing absence of stuffiness or unnecessary formality.

The bar (which is very well stocked with more than 60 highland malt whiskies) and residents' lounge are comfortable and congenial where you can relax and acquaint yourself with the other guests. There is a no smoking policy in our lounge, dining and bedroom areas. Smokers can 'fume' in the bar and conservatory.

If you aim to take it easy you can bury yourself in a good book in our beautifully appointed conservatory overlooking an acre of mature gardens or relax on the sun terrace while the more energetic can enjoy a leisurely game of croquet.

All this is complemented by an excellent, imaginative and extensive table d'hote menu changed each day using local fresh produce and seafood and the chef makes his own bread on a daily basis.

The four star status awarded us by the Wales Tourist Board and a glance at our visitors' book bears testimony to the high quality of hospitality enjoyed by all our guests, many of whom come back to us time and time again.

We look forward to extending this hospitality to you.

Tenby and the enchanting Pembrokeshire coast and countryside are delightful at all times of the year, but in Spring and Autumn hold a special charm for visitors who wish to enjoy a quiet and tranquil short holiday break on uncrowded roads and beaches.

The hotel has been tastefully redecorated and refurbished to a high modern standard, and every effort has been made to achieve harmony with the period character of the building. It has the added attraction of a large and secluded garden surrounded by majestic trees, which is a source of pleasure at all times of the year.

A glance at our visitors book will confirm our claim to provide excellent meals from an imaginative and varied menu, and these are complemented by a carefully selected range of wines.

We know our hotel can please the eye and our chef can please the palate, so we hope you will stay with us for a break.

In the spirit of the Europe and all that we will gladly accept payment in euros but lovers of French cuisine will be sad to hear that the chef has icily rejected the gardeners offer of a regular supply of snails from his flower beds.
